For 21 years, the New Jersey Audubon Society has hosted the annual World Series of Birding at Cape May. Bird watchers count as many species as they can within a 24 hour period.

Manasquan inlet in Point Pleasant beach is a prime winter birding location.
Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuarly in Stone Harbor has hundreds of shorebirds to view.
